IVS makes use of <b>Axis Communications IP-based</b> <em>(aka "network")</em> cameras.

<dt>Why Axis Communications?</dt>
<dd>We use Axis cameras exclusively because we have an excellent relationship with Axis as a vendor and their cameras are extremely reliable. When we have issues with cameras, RMAs are typically straightforward as well.</dd>

<dt>Why IP-based cameras?</dt>
<dd><ul>
<li>Direct API control of the cameras over IP to adjust PTZ</li>
<li>Ability to leverage pre-encoded video/audio streams at much more efficient bitrates</li>
<li>Direct format support for video/audio from the cameras allowing us to avoid transcoding and support up to 50 cameras/server</li>
