Camera POE Configuration

Cameras and Encoders used with the Valt system are typically POE enabled devices. The cameras usually utilize either what is considered standard POE 802.3af (12.95W), or high POE 802.3at (25.5W). The POE standard utilized depends on the make and model of the device. For 802.3af devices, a standard POE switch or midspan is required, while for 802.3at devices a high POE switch or midspan is required.

Some high POE devices will power on and partially operate (image or pan tilt motors will not be operational) using standard POE. Depending on the network switch you are utilizing, you may have to force the ports the high POE devices are on to push the proper wattage. If you are using the Cisco X series switches, you may need to enable lldp on the switch globally.

To do this, run the command:
lldp run
